"The body is a self-healing organism, so it's really about clearing things out of the way so the body can heal itself."

~Barbara Brennan

What is Reiki

Reiki, pronounced ‘ray-key,’ is an ancient form of alternative medicine called energy healing. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means ‘universal, spiritual consciousness, wisdom from God’ and (Ki) which means ‘life force, energy that inhabits all living things.’  Although Reiki is spiritual in nature, it has no religious affiliations and causes no harm.  It is a subtle, gentle, and effective form of energy work where practitioners act as a conduit, using a technique called palm healing.  We access ‘universal life force energy’ via attuned symbols, through the crown of the head, transferred out the hands, and directed into the subject.  Energy flows within and around the physical body (cells, tissues, bones, muscles, organs) and beams throughout the subtle body (biofield, mind, soul, chakras, meridians, auras).

Even though we are often called healers, the Reiki practitioner does not actually ‘heal’ the client.  We facilitate balance within the client’s spiritual, mental, emotional and physical body, which in turn creates a centering effect or clearing of space for the body to naturally heal itself.

Energy healing therapies have been practiced in one form or another all over the globe throughout history.  Bob Reynolds from LifeSpark wrote: “Since the Ice Age, some form of touch therapy has been part of the medical repertoire of shamans and other skilled practitioners.  An Egyptian papyrus dated at around 1552 B.C. describes the laying-on of hands for treatment of health issues.  The Greeks used therapeutic touch in their temples to Aesculapius, the god of medicine, for healing the sick.  The playwright Aristophanes wrote that the practice restored a blind man’s sight.  Medieval European accounts mention touching with the hands as a way to heal all manner of disorders…Societies around the world have conceived of a universal life energy that runs through not only our bodies, but through all of nature.  This energy can be harnessed to improve people’s mental and emotional condition.  Different cultures have given this energy different names:  prana, etheric energy, fohat, orgone, Odic force, and mana.”

While TRW honors all energy medicine modalities, we practice the traditional, Usui System of Natural Healing (Usui Shiki Ryoho) and Jikiden Reiki, both founded by Dr. Mikao Usui.  Usui was born in 1865 in Japan to a Buddhist family.  As a child, he received extensive education including martial arts, swordsmanship, and Kiki (the Japanese form of Qigong).  He studied medicine, psychology, and theology, as well as created Zazen meditation.  Prior to becoming a doctor, he was a journalist and worked to rehabilitate prisoners.  The discovery of Reiki occurred when Usui traveled to mount Kurama for a period of deep meditation and fasting.  After 21 days, he experienced a spiritual awakening in recognizing his ability to channel Reiki energy and share it with the world.  Usui rediscovered Reiki in 1922, founding the first Reiki Clinic located in Tokyo.  In 1923, after The Great Kanto earthquake took an estimated 100,000 lives and injured over a million more, he brought his healing ability of Reiki to the streets of Japan.  Usui made energy medicine accessible to the general public by creating a simple and practical cohesive system for passing this ancient knowledge from Master to student.  Reportedly, Usui trained over 2,000 people, creating a web of healers expanding the network of practitioners to all parts of the world.  As a Reiki Master, Rochele, The Reiki Warrior, has a direct lineage of traditional training from Usui himself.

To be a clear channel for Reiki energy, students practice meditation and the principles of Reiki as a lifestyle, which includes the five Reiki principals:

Just for today...

I will not be angry

I will not worry

I will be grateful

I will do my work honestly

I will be kind to every living thing

Distance Reiki

People are often skeptical of a distant Reiki session, which is completely understandable.  How is someone in another room, another city, or even another country able to experience healing from a Reiki practitioner in a different place?

Everything is energy.  Quantum physics tells us that the whole universe appears as a dynamic web of inseparable energy patterns.  On the subatomic level “particles” are connected in a way that transcends time and space.  Distance Reiki works according to an ancient principle called the Hermetic Law of Similarity, which holds that we are all connected, as we are all made of energy and part of a larger whole.  Invoking this law during a distance Reiki session allows the practitioner to link up to the divine matrix and connect directly to the energy field of the recipient.  For example, Reiki practitioners are able to carry out a full traditional Reiki session with you from anywhere in the world and you will experience the benefits as if they were in the room with you. In addition, we can send healing energy to someone's past, or their younger self to offer healing from childhood trauma, which will then flow into a client’s present reality.  Similarly, we are able to send Reiki to a client’s future as an offering or blessing for positive intensions for an event, such as an interview or surgery, to go well.

Within the framework of our physical world, everything has to be done in person. If you need a haircut, a massage, dental work, manicure or blood test, it has to be done in person and cannot be done remotely; this is how Distance Reiki differs from other services.  It is much easier for people to accept other energy frequencies that we cannot see, such as electricity, radios, cell phones, the internet, and Wi-Fi.  Initially, these frequencies were thought to be magical and unbelievable, but now they are fully accepted as normal. In order for them to work, you must be tuned in and Distance Reiki works in a similar way.

Pet & Animal Reiki
Reiki Master Healer Heals Animals in Rei

Pet and Animal Reiki is gentle, painless, non-invasive, stress-free and safe for all animals or species. Reiki’s healing energy will go where it is needed  in an animal’s body.  It can be used from a distance, making it ideal for animals in a variety of settings such as veterinary clinics, grooming centers, rescues, shelters, and training facilities.  Animals are highly sensitive creatures and respond well to Reiki treatments.  However, Reiki is not a magical cure and is not an alternative to conventional veterinary care, but is a supplemental natural therapy that promotes the body’s natural process of self-healing.  If you have a pet that is uncomfortable or has health issues, you should always visit the veterinary clinic first.

Cute little red kitten sleeps on fur whi

When I became a Reiki practitioner, I started giving Reiki to Chauncey, my 12 year old (at the time) Abyssinian cat.  Chauncey was a rescue kitty found on the streets in New York City.  After being on death row at the humane society, he found his way to me via a shelter.  It was obvious that he was traumatized from being through substantial physical abuse.  He was missing two inches of hair at the tip of his tail, all four of his paws were completely scabbed over, his whiskers had been burned off, he was missing several teeth, he had a cut on the right side of his mouth over an inch long that had been stitched, and he was coughing and sneezing with a cold, which alone could be deadly for a cat since they won’t eat when they are unable to smell.   He was shivering with fear, and for a couple years, every time I put him in a carrier he would foam at the mouth and defecate all over himself.  It was clear to me that he had PTSD.  Of course, I showered him with love and gave him a safe and warm space to heal.  His transformation over the years is pretty remarkable.  After a couple of years together, his anxiety from trauma symptoms has subsided.  However, he has had health issues his entire life with chronic constipation, impacted anal glands, heart murmur, pancreatitis and recently kidney disease.  For years, he had been on Prescription Diet food and 2 medications daily; (1) for inflammation to treat the pancreatitis and (2) lactulose to help his bowels to clear.  When I became a Reiki Master, I began giving Chauncey Reiki 1-2 times a day.  Within a couple weeks, he didn’t want the medications anymore and became difficult (kicking and jumping away), which was a new behavior, so I stopped administering them.  Since then, he only needs one medication given as needed for constipation.  He has been completely off of the inflammation meds with no flair ups.  Chauncey comes to me a couple times a day waiting for me to give him Reiki; he loves the way it makes him feel.  As a result, Chauncey’s quality of life has increased and he has lived longer than expected.

Business Clearing & Reiki Blessing

After a home clearing, people typically report sleeping better, feeling more at peace, and happier in their home. If there has been a dramatic event in the house or turbulences in the family dynamic, those get immediately transformed and healed.  In a work environment, teams function better together and visitors often comment about something having been deeply transformed without knowing what has happened. There is a sense of lightness in the whole space, and whatever difficulties the company or business may have experienced will have a much greater chance of being overcome.  A house or office is like a sponge; whatever transpires in your environment, that energy is absorbed into the walls, furniture, carpet, ceiling, and objects. Frequently, these negative energies accumulate in corners and tucked away places. Energy debris can be a result of negative emotions, thoughts, occurrences, and stress that you (your family and co-workers) have experienced in your space.

A Home or Business Clearing is Recommended...

  • At the change of seasons

  • When you are looking to sell your home

  • When moving into a new space

  • After you remove clutter

  • After a roommate or companion moves out

  • After a strong argument or fight

  • After a divorce or break-up

  • If you feel that your business is struggling

  • If you or the occupants are experiencing stress, anxiety, and/or brain fog

  • After illness or the passing of a dear one

  • After a robbery or invasion of any sort

  • Anytime you desire fresh energy for a new project

  • If you feel “blocked” or “stuck” in your relationships, life, work, projects or creativity

  • If you or your children don’t sleep well, or have numerous nightmares

  • If you suspect a presence in your home, or something just doesn’t feel “right”
